Highlights from the last Selectboard meeting
posted: 10/28/08
This week the Selectboard voted to hire Dominic Marchegiani as the weekend water and sewer operator. He will start immediately and be trained by the current operators for the job.
There was much discussion about an overdue cemetery bill for engineering. Clerk Amber Holland and Treasurer Karen Boisvert will be looking into the matter to make sure the town was not overcharged.
The Selectboard announced that there will be a meeting held on Wednesday, October 29th at 4 p.m. with the town's accountant and the heads of all town departments concerning the GASB 34 accounting standards. The purpose of the meeting is to bring everyone up to date on how to streamline the process and make sure that all information that is submitted is done so in the right manner.
Chairperson Ray Eilers informed the Selectboard that Bob Dion had inquired about renting space in the town warehouse on Railroad Alley. Mr. Dion is looking for a place to use for manufacturing. Ray will contact him and show him what is currently available.
The Selectboard signed the yearly contract with the Vermont State Police for law enforcement coverage. The contract terms are the same as last year. Resident Phil Jillson spoke out against hiring outside law enforcement. He believes that the services received are not worth the amount that is paid.
Until next week...
